cha-cha-cha-changes

spent 4 hours at the city council meeting tues. night to oppose the high-density dvpt. coming to se gaston co. (the same campaign i've been spending 1/2 my time working on at the nursery), and was there until 10:30pm! best moments--the preacher who tried to preach, but couldn't speak intelligibly, my boss' dad, who talked about playing for the yankees instead of anything relevant. entertaining as it was, all our efforts were in haste. the development is coming.

time may change me...

is it a housing development? hope not, cause those suck. STOP SELLING YOUR LAND, NORTH CAROLINIANS! HOLD ON TO YOUR ACRES!! we will become a tiny version of California with over-inflated land prices and no accents, if you do not. i'm scared, e.lo. maybe they didn't hear me.

but THEY never will

not only a housing development, but a 900 unit development. this sucker is gonna be bigger than some of the towns in gaston county!!!

you know what's crazy? i think the city did something illegal that night, by refusing to honor a petition signed by a majority of land owners. we may try to fight it in the courts, and even if it just creates a stall they might make some more concessions. it's kind of a long-shot in the courts, but there's nothing in the books on this, so it'd be exciting to set precedent and maybe help out another north carolina community fighting developments like these in the future. and to think that the road where it will be was going to be designated an nc scenic byway.

does the sight of beautiful farmland and old barns also bring tears to your eyes?
